About Us

Trinity is a small Southern Baptist Church in the rural community formerly known as Letha, Oklahoma, about a 1.5 miles south of downtown Seminole. If you come to visit us, you will find an informal atmosphere where people will treat you like family (in a nice way). Our worship services are traditional but relaxed, and our focus is on learning and applying God's Word so that we can glorify the Lord Jesus Christ out of gratitude for the incredible gift of forgiveness He gives.

Our History

During the early part of the 20th century, an oil boom developed across the state of Oklahoma. It was during this boom, a small oil city was born between Maud and Seminole called Carr City. It was in this oil city that our ministry began in 1940, calling themselves Carr City Baptist Church.

As the oil boom came to an end the people of Carr City began to move on, and Carr City Baptist Church was faced with a transition. In 1950 the church moved to its present location in the community of Letha, and changed its name to Letha Baptist Church. With a new name and new location, the church began to grow. In 1955 it was easy to see that the new location provided fertile grounds for the Gospel as the church grew and flourished. Finally, in 1960, the church changed its name to Trinity Baptist Church.

In life, setbacks happen and it is the same for the life of any church. In the 1960s, the church was destroyed in a fire. The church was reminded of the promise of scripture at this time, “that God causes all things to work together for good”. It was not long until the church had rebuilt its new facilities, and in the 1970s, a new addition was added to the church. This new addition to the building is what we now experience as our present place of ministry. In 2008, the front drive-through was added to the front of the church, and a steeple was placed upon the top of the building.

We realize that the buildings and grounds are just the tools for the true church: for the true church is God’s people meeting together to encounter God, and to prepare and undergird the faith we profess in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Many people have contributed to the work that has brought us to where our ministry presently stands. The ministry of Trinity, from its inception, has centered on the Commission of Christ to go into all the world proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Up until the early 1980s, Trinity owned a cabin down at Falls Creek Youth Camp. Lives were changed forever as members of Trinity took many of our youth and children down to this God-ordained experience. Many came to faith in Jesus, and even some answering the call to missions and ministry.

Other ministries have included Vacation Bible School, witnessing Children coming to Christ, and continuing an emphasis on Spiritual renewal. Many evangelists have stood behind our pulpit exhorting the Word of God. Trinity continues to have men’s and women’s ministries, in which the members actively participate.

The community around the church has experienced wild fires several times, the church served as a mission point for the community and surrounding area. Missions groups and local donations were given to help those who suffered loss, and brought to the church for redistribution. Trinity continues to serve as a lighthouse as many come through the doors in their times of crisis and find a place of refuge in their time of suffering. Needs are met and God is glorified because His church is ready to meet the needs and challenges when called upon.

With many contributions and faithful ministries, Trinity continues to be a iight for a lost world to see. As we look back upon the years of ministry, we can’t help but see the continued lostness in our world today and see we have much work to do. May God bless the work here at Trinity Baptist Church.
